GUIDELINES TO PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
SWAHILI PROMOTION PROGRAM / CAMPAIGN
—————————
1. Welcome Message
Welcome to Kiswahili Promotion program and WhatsApp group. The objective of the program is to mobilize Kiswahili teachers and promoters so that we teach/ coach Kiswahili to individuals and staff of organizations in Uganda using street language concept.
More details are on: swahili.tiginstitute.com. Please invite other teachers and promoters who are interested to join this WhatsApp group and Swahili Promotion program.
2. About Swahili Promotion Program
It is a voluntary campaign, initiated by Chris Muhango, a lecturer at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and founder of Tig Institute for Management & Communication. Chris Muhango is a respected professional Chartered Marketer and trainer. He has worked in many countries as a Development Communications Specialist and Consultant.
3. Registering for Program participants
There are three types of participants;
a) Swahili Teachers (Promoters);
b) Sponsors (Organisations and individuals who want to learn Swahili); and
c) General Public (anyone who wants to join).
a) Swahili Teachers (Promoters)
Registration for Swahili teachers is free of charge and voluntary. The job of Swahili teachers in this program is to mobilize program sponsors, teach Swahili at their schools, coach people to speak Swahili in their schools and communities and encourage people to speak Swahili. We thank those who have already registered. We are recruiting Swahili teachers who are willing and ready to work with Tig Institute to promote Kiswahili in Uganda using our Street Language Strategy concept. The Swahili teachers will upload their profiles on the campaign portal including pictures during registration. Uploading teachers’ profiles will not only promote teachers but will increase CVs and their online presence as well. Swahili Promotion is mainly an online program and everything is online: registrations, recruitments, campaign contributions from sponsors, Swahili teaching and coaching, teacher payments and promotions.
On registration, Swahili teachers will upload their pictures and profiles. They will indicate their districts where they are based. There are limited slots and they will be filled on first come, first served basis. Teachers will NOT pay any money to register. Buy for those willing, they may earn commission on campaign contributions from sponsors to help teachers buy airtime and to motivate them to continue promoting Swahili. Only registered teachers who are promoting Swahili will earn 50% commission on negotiated sponsors’ contributions.
b) Registration or Recruitment of Sponsors
For this program to succeed, it needs sponsors. Sponsors are organizations or individuals interested in learning Swahili. We expect them to make contributions based on their status. They will use Subscribe button on the portal in order to register. For sponsorship, the program is targeting organizations, companies, NGOs, schools and individuals including parents, politicians and the business community. This group is the main focus of Swahili Promotion Program and will receive Swahili teaching and coaching using Street Language Concept. All messages will come from Swahili Promotion Portal, managed by Tig Institute.
This is special registration for organisations and individuals (Campaign Sponsors) who are interested in learning Swahili as individuals or as an organization. This category will make campaign contributions according to their capabilities and status. Swahili teachers (promoters) will negotiate the campaign contributions with sponsors. The sponsors will receive the following from the program: Reminder email messages, campaign materials, Swahili teaching and coaching messages, videos clips, posters, Swahili promotion updates and the like.
If a Swahili teacher (Promoter) recruits an organization or an individual including parents (Sponsors) to join the Swahili Promotion program, 50% of the contribution by the sponsors will be paid to the Swahili teacher who has recruited sponsors. The payment will motivate teachers to get airtime and to continue promoting the program. However, to be paid, the teachers need to be registered on the Portal according to their districts on first come, first served basis. Once the program gets the appropriate number of promoters, registration of teachers will close.
c) General Registration
This is general registration for everybody interested in promoting Swahili in Uganda. Registration is free of charge using the available forms on www.swahili.tiginstitute.com and no picture and district will be required. This category will only get information and updates about Swahili promotion program. This category includes even those who already know Swahili and are interested in promoting it. On registration, you will indicate the referral name and telephone number (mainly a Swahili teacher who encouraged you to join the program). We would like to know the teachers who are promoting the program. Every interested person is a target for this general group and can register including parents and none Swahili teachers as long as they have smart phones, laptops or computers. Swahili teachers are encouraged to mobilize willing Ugandans to register in order to get campaign messages from the Portal.
On Referral, you indicate the name and telephone number of the person who encouraged you to join. Parents and other teachers, who have smart phones, are the main target for this general group. There is no commission for this category. Teachers will be asked to mobilize willing Ugandans to register in order to get campaign messages from the Portal.
4. Appreciate My Teacher Program
Swahili Promotion is part of a bigger program called “Appreciate My Teacher”, an initiative by Tig Institute. The main objective is to mobilize Ugandans to appreciate the great contribution that teachers make to society. Many countries have such programs for appreciation and thanking teachers. All programs under Appreciate My Teacher are designed in such a way that teachers earn some money as Tig Institute’s contribution to teachers. We will introduce these other programs at a later time, slowly by slowly. As of now, let us promote Swahili. We will be happy if a teacher is appreciated by the community and sponsored to promote Swahili in Uganda.
