Learn Swahili – Using Street Language Concept

Kiswahili Promotion Program is an initiative of Tig Institute aimed at mobilizing Ugandans to promote the learning of Kiswahili. Tig Institute is using the Street Language promotional concept as an adult literacy teaching program, where program participants will learn from people who already speak Kiswahili in their closed environment.

Learning new languages empowers individuals and opens opportunities. Kiswahili has gained rapid growth and expansion in Uganda, in Africa and the whole world. Kiswahili is now the second official language after English. In East Africa, Kiswahili it is lingua franca – language used in everyday interactions by many people. Currently Kiswahili speakers can work anywhere in the East African region. The UN established the Kiswahili Language Day July 7th.
